What is Numa Numa?
Numa Numa or "The Numa Numa Guy" is a video of a man dancing to the song "Dragostea din tei"by the Moldovan group O-Zone. The man dances and lipsyncs from his seat at the computer, pulling funny facial expressions and flailing his arms around like nobody's watching. Maybe no one was watching when the video was made, but since it was posted on YouTube in August of 2006, the video has been viewed over 52 million times.
Concerns for Parents
- This video clip doesn't contain any objectionable material (even if the song lyrics were inappropriate, you wouldn't know it unless you understood Romanian). However, your kids may stumble upon other inappropriate videos on their way to watching this or any other YouTube video.
How Can I Keep My Child Safe?
- Many Web filters block YouTube and other video hosting sites. Depending on your kids' ages and needs, you may or may not wish to leave this setting as it is.
- A safe and fun way to enjoy wholesome online videos without running into bad ones is to let your kids visit the site only when you are at the computer with them. Watching funny videos together will prevent exposure to inappropriate content. Plus, it turns surfing the Web into a fun family activity.
- Quietube can also help families use YouTube safely. Quietube allows you to watch YouTube videos on a clean white screen that's free from potentially inappropriate ads, video previews, and comments.
