On Wednesday, the micro-blogging social networking service, Twitter, turned six. While celebrating the six-year achievement of revolutionizing the way people blog, the company dropped a few statistics that prove just how far Twitter has come in the past six years. In a blog post, celebrating the birthday, Twitter announced that they'd reached 140 million active users. This new number is a 40% increase over the past seven months, since September when the CEO Dick Costolo announced 100 million followers. Additionally, the service reached yet another record on Monday night when the show 'Pretty Little Liars' hit 32,000 tweets per second during broadcasting, surpassing even the Superbowl in popularity, and making social networking and TV history.
